Beholding
the gazing stars and the wonderful creatures of God flying in the air. This act
triggered some intellectual reasoning. ‘What
if the birds created to fly in the air started swimming in the sea. How will
God feel about them?’Swaying
from the thought of these little creatures. Again I thought,
‘What if humans designed
for a particular purpose, decide to go off-track and start to pursue a
different task. How will God feel?
But
these little creatures judiciously and meticulously follow their path in life. The
monkeys jump, the fish swim, the birds fly and so on. Then it dawn on me; Life
without purpose is an event without action and an exercise in frustration. Life
without purpose is a race done in futility. Like a rat race, it is an effort
towards nothing. Life without purpose is an energy expended in profligacy… The greatest tragedy is life
without purpose, not death. It is more tragic to be alive and not know why than
to be dead and not know life. God's greatest desire is for us to discover our
purpose.
What
then is purpose? Purpose is the original intent for the creation of a thing.
It's the desired result for a thing. It's the end before the beginning. It's the finish before the start. It's the reason for existence. It's the birth
of a meaningful life.
God was
thinking of you long before you ever thought about him. His purpose for your
life predates your conception. He planned it before you existed, without your
input!
From
the words of Myles Munroe; “The
wealthiest part on earth is not the gold mind of South Africa. It is neither
the dimer mine of South Africa. It is not the oil fields of Kuwait. It is also
not the silver mine of Central America. But the wealthiest part on earth is the
graveyard/cemetery .”
Buried
in the cemetery are books that were never written. Songs that were never
written nor sung. Businesses that never started. Churches that were never
opened. Visions that never became reality. Ideas that never came to fruition.
Great men who died as alcoholics. Great women who died as prostitute…
Until
you discover your purpose in life you are simply experimenting with your time,
talents and potentials. The importance of Purpose discovery cannot be
overemphasized. Hence the need to seek God to know your purpose in life.
Get the
order right! No one can find purpose outside God. It all starts with God. The
Bible says,“Seek
first the kingdom of God and every other thing shall be added”. From this scripture, it is
obvious that ‘every
other thing’
cannot be added if we don't seek first God’s
Kingdom. It is time we reordered our life. It is God’s desire that we know Him.
Knowing God helps us to know ourselves better. The more we know God, the more
we understand ourselves. Get busy with God today!
