THE COMPLETE ME

SELF ESTEEM

The word "esteem" according to the "English dictionary" means to set a high value on something, or to regard with respect or reverence. Self esteem simply means setting a high value on yourself or having regard for yourself. In recent times, we see people who say they do not have self esteem. A lot of persons has lost their self esteem as a result of some circumstances or tragedy that has befallen them. Setting values for yourself as a person puts you in a check and enables you to examine or compare yourself with your standard and not others. It builds you to becoming a better person than you were, you will be able to know what to do, or say each time and what to wear, because all these portrays you having a self esteem or not. One very important point to note is to love God and others around you before you can now begin to set values for yourself. You must be a woman/man of Godly principles and not just an ordinary person.

How To Build a Self Esteem?

1. You must know God: knowing God first is a great criteria that must be put on the tapis before building a self esteem because we are complete in Him. The values you are to set for yourself should be in line with God's word, i.e you should set values that will glorify God and be able to affect and transform the lives of others. You can only set values in line with God's word when you know Him. (Rom 10:9-10, John 1:12, John 3:16)

2. You should be able to recall your previous state before you knew God: how were you before christ came into your life, it is an appraisal of how your life has been before you met God. It is very important.

3. You must know who you are in christ now and how christ in you has transformed you from your previous self to the state you are now: this enables you to know where you are coming from and where you are going to. It calls for a deep and intimate fellowship with Him in order to discover who you really are. Knowing who you really are pushes us to know what this self esteem is about.. Self esteem is carrying or seeing yourself the way He sees you and the way He has created you to be. For you to carry yourself the way He sees you, you need to know how He sees you, that is where fellowship comes into play. You cannot effectively build a high self esteem for yourself if you do not carry Him, it is all about Jesus. In times of trouble, In times of pain, In times of distress, In times of difficult situations, In times of emotional breakdown, In times where it seems it is all over, In times when it seems "compromise" is the next option, In times when I want to begin to break principles, In times when I begin to lose my self respect, In times when I begin to look down on my self, In times when my self worth and dignity is being thrown to the mud, In times when it seems my self esteem is to be tempered with...........

I remember that Christ loves me I remember that He came just to die for me I remember that "I am a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a perculiar people" (1peter 2:9) I remember that His love for me is deeper than hell and high above the heavens I remember that His love for me is unexplainable and indescribable, it is beyond Human comprehension and then I rise........ I rise to see myself the way He sees me... Sweetheart, see yourself the way He sees you today. For you to be a woman/man of great mind and virtue, you need Him. In Him We Are Complete.
