A dream in the hands of a passionate, dedicated, and committed vision bearer is one of the most powerful realities of our time._ - Courage Idahor
"My friend Jack is an extremely talented musician. But I don't think you'll ever hear any of his songs. In fact, I'm sure you won't. And its not because they're not good. Jack has recorded some great stuff over the last fifteen years. But it's rotting on the hard drive of his computer in his home studio.
There was a time when Jack envisioned having a ministry to Christians all over the world through his songs. He prayed a lot about it. Talked a lot about it. Worked really hard on it. Invested a lot of time and money in it. The people around sacrificed a lot for it too. His wife earned a living to support him and the kids so that he could stay home and chase his dream. And after fifteen years of writing music, making plans and fearing failure, Jack has still never released a single album publicly. He doesn't perform any concerts anywhere. And he recently decided to stop writing music.
The last time I talked to Jack, he seemed worn down and embarrassed about his lack of progress. I told him he's shouldn't be so hard on himself. He said yes, he should. He clarified that he wasn't so much embarrassed about his lack of progress as he was about his lack of faith. He never had the courage to put his music out there and trust God with the results. Now, he said, he's too old to tour, to break through, or to care.
He just wants to to pay his mortgage and he's come to terms with the fact that the world will never hear his music. He doesn't even go to church anymore.
I think he's embarrassed to show his face, because he feels like he's let down all the people who have prayed for his music career. He feels like a loser. He oozes with regret"
I read this story in Steven Furtick's book as I cruised from Toledo to Cleveland, Ohio, USA. I couldn't help but share it. I'm pretty sure you are either going through this experience now or you had one time given a thought on what would become of your life if you don't fulfill your dreams.
I'm glad you tuned in to read this. I'm simultaneously scared that you will get so emotional the first few hours of reading this and do nothing afterwards.
There is a big difference between standing in hope and walking in faith. A miracle is not a mono-walk but a dyadic walk with shared responsibility. Your dream won't chase itself if you do nothing about it. You've got to intentional to pursue that dream. You've got to be involved in your miracle. You must realize that there's really no time to stand or stare. You do not have till eternity to achieve your dreams. As you move through the decades of life, progressing from denial to decamping, your clock ticks imperceptibly and unconvincingly, though undeniably. This calls to action, however inconvenient and how pleasurably incompatible it may seem, pursue your dreams passionately and unapologetically.
A dream in the hands of a passionate, dedicated, and committed vision bearer is one of the most powerful realities of our time. Your dream is still valid friend. Do nothing about it and get nothing in return. Do something about it and get rewarding results.
The fear of failure promises nothing but failure. The lack of faith guarantees nothing but a mirage.
Stay blessed!
